About this role
My role helps deliver patient care by providing and maintaining a high standard of phlebotomy care for patients. Working under the direction of the Service Lead and as part of a team, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Perform venepuncture and collect blood samples in line with training, procedures, and service protocols. Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and reassurance throughout the process. Confirm patient identity against documentation and with the patient wherever possible. Obtain informed consent prior to sample collection. Accurately and legibly label all samples to ensure correct identification. Package, store, and handle samples safely in accordance with guidelines. Ensure timely and appropriate dispatch of samples to laboratories. Maintain accurate patient records, documenting all procedures as required. Report anomalies, incidents, or patient concerns promptly to a senior nurse or GP. Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams and assist patients, including undertaking chaperoning duties where appropriate. You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties, as directed by the service lead.
