Personal Assistant Supporting a Young Adult (Knowle West)
5 Hours per Week | Direct Payment Role
We are looking for two caring and reliable Personal Assistants (PAs) to support an 18-year-old young man who lives in Knowle West with his family.
About Me
Hi, Im Jed
Im 18 years old and I live at home with my mum and sister. I have Down Syndrome, learning difficulties and low muscle tone, which means I need some support to stay safe and build my independence when Im out in the community.
Im a happy, laid-back and easy-going person. I enjoy getting out and about especially going to football on Saturdays! I also like going to the cinema, out for food, and visiting shops. Im looking for someone kind, patient and encouraging who can support me to grow in confidence and help me learn new skills.
Hours
3 hours during the week (flexible days to be agreed)
2 hours on Saturday to attend football

5 hours per week
About the Role
You will support me to
Attend football and other community activities
(this may include using my familys electric vehicle no mileage costs are expected)
Go to the cinema, shops and meals out
Build my confidence and social skills
Learn to handle money and pay for items
Order food and speak with staff independently
Develop everyday living skills
Essential Requirements
Must be a car driver
Must be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (Adult Workforce)
Kind, patient and dependable
Confident supporting young adults with learning disabilities
Committed to promoting independence
Good communication skills
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Experience supporting individuals with Down Syndrome or learning disabilities is desirable but not essential.
Pay & Vehicle Use
5 hours per week
£12.60 per hour (rate will increase in April in line with minimum wage changes)
You will use the familys electric vehicle for community activities
No mileage costs are expected
Based in Knowle West
