An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a highly respected, RCVS-accredited independent small animal practice in Somerset. This is an ideal role for an experienced Veterinary Nurse with around 3+ years’ experience, seeking variety, autonomy, and genuine career progression within a forward-thinking, expanding practice.
With advanced facilities including CT imaging, dedicated wards, and a high surgical caseload, the successful RVN will be fully utilised across a broad and varied caseload spanning surgical, medical, inpatient, emergency and routine care.

The Role – Registered Veterinary Nurse
This role offers exceptional clinical variety with flexibility to tailor responsibilities depending on interests and strengths. Whether a nurse enjoys consulting, operating theatre work, inpatient care, or wards, the practice is happy to support a preferred clinical bias.
The successful Registered Veterinary
Nurse will be involved in
- Nurse-led consultations and clinics
- Nurse-driven operating days
- Inpatient and critical care nursing
- Anaesthesia monitoring and surgical support
- Dentistry procedures and dental imaging
- Diagnostic imaging, including CT
- Supporting both routine and emergency cases
The caseload is large and varied, providing exposure to everything from routine procedures through to complex medical and surgical cases.
Working Pattern & Salary
- Full-time position – typically 40 hours across 4 days
- Shared weekend rota
- Flexible working patterns considered for the right candidate
- Salary up to £36,000 DOE
About the Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have
- RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
- Ideally 3+ years of nursing experience in small animal practice
- A proactive and patient-focused approach
- Interest in developing clinical skills across areas such as ECC, anaesthesia, imaging, dentistry, consulting, or inpatient care
- A team-focused mindset with a passion for delivering outstanding care
