About the role

We're looking for a creative, resilient and positive Support Worker to join our team in Chippenham (SN15), supporting a young man with additional needs who lives independently in his own home.

This is a truly unique, relationship-based role where you'll support someone to maintain independence while living a full and active life. You'll need to know when to step in and when to step back — building trust, confidence and mutual respect.

Who you will be supporting

You'll be supporting a sociable and independent young man who enjoys a wide range of interests, including

  • Walking and tracking his steps
  • Bus rides and car journeys
  • Trips to the pub and local town
  • Music, playing instruments and attending live music events
  • Folk music festivals and Open Mic performances
  • Visiting car boot sales and county shows
  • Interest in emergency services and related events
  • Watching traffic from favourite viewpoints
  • Using his computer
  • Travelling abroad with family

This is a dynamic role that perfectly suits someone who enjoys variety, routine and meaningful engagement.

What you will be doing

You'll provide person-centred support that balances independence and safety, including

  • Supporting daily routines, personal care and household tasks
  • Encouraging independence and respecting personal space
  • Supporting community activities, hobbies and social events
  • Building a strong, trusting and positive relationship
  • Being flexible and responsive to changing needs
  • Occasionally working across nearby services to share knowledge and experience

Shift patterns

Flexible shifts available, including

  • 9:00am - 2:30pm
  • Long day + sleep-in: 9:00am - 9:00am (next day)
  • Evening + sleep-in: 2:30pm - 9:00am (next day)

Sleep-ins are paid at £50 per night.

Rotas are provided in advance to support work-life balance.

About you

You'll be a great fit if you are

  • Creative, resilient and able to think on your feet
  • Respectful of independence and personal boundaries
  • Positive, engaging and confident
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • A strong communicator and relationship builder
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • A driver (preferred, especially if using your own car with business insurance)

Experience is helpful, but not essential — full training will be provided.

This is a rare opportunity to work in a 1:1 independent living setting, where you can

  • Build a meaningful, long-term relationship

  • Enjoy a varied, engaging and rewarding role
