SEN Learning Support Assistant

About this role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and supportive SEN Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Salisbury area. This role involves supporting students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.

You will work closely with teaching staff to provide consistent and tailored support, helping pupils access the curriculum, remain engaged in lessons, and develop confidence throughout the school day. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, depending on the needs of each pupil.

Provide 1

1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN

  • Support pupils during lessons, activities, and daily routines
  • Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support
  • Adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
  • Calm, patient, and confident supporting additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing situations
  • Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, or support roles welcomed

Key Stages

Primary / Secondary

  • SEN or relevant child‑support experience desirable
  • Safeguarding training can be provided
  • Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
  • Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding & behaviour management
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities for continued work and progression
  • A meaningful role supporting pupils with additional needs
