SEN Teaching Assistant

About this role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a patient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Salisbury area. This role involves working with students who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.

You will work alongside teaching staff to provide consistent and targeted support, helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, and stay engaged throughout the school day. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, depending on the needs of the students.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils who require additional guidance to succeed.

Provide 1

1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN

  • Support pupils during lessons, activities, and daily routines
  • Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Help adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Maintain a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
  • Experience working with children or individuals with additional needs
  • Calm, patient, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Adaptable and responsive to different situations
  • Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, or support roles welcomed

Primary / Secondary

  • SEN or relevant child‑support experience desirable
  • Safeguarding training can be provided
  • Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial
  • Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding & behaviour management
