The Logistics Manager Role

As Logistics Manager, you will take full operational responsibility for all warehouse and transport activities at our Regional Distribution Centre (RDC). This includes overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of stock, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately, safely, and on time.

You will lead and develop a multi-functional team across warehouse and driving operations, ensuring high levels of performance, engagement, and accountability. Alongside operational delivery, you will play a key role in driving cost control, process optimisation, and continuous improvement.

A critical aspect of the role is maintaining full compliance across all logistics activities - including health & safety, fleet compliance, ISO standards, and wider regulatory requirements - ensuring a safe, efficient, and legally compliant operation at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Supervisors, Warehouse Operatives, and Drivers, creating a high-performance culture
  • Set clear objectives and conduct regular performance reviews, supporting development through coaching and training
  • Oversee all logistics operations including goods receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch
  • Ensure delivery schedules are achieved, maintaining a consistent 24/48-hour service level

  • Optimise resource utilisation across labour, fleet, and equipment to maximise operational efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and other departments to meet customer expectations and delivery requirements
  • Support implementation of central logistics strategy at site level, aligning with wider business objectives
  • Ensure stock control processes are effectively supported, including planning and resourcing stock counts
  • Take full ownership of health & safety across warehouse and transport operations, ensuring compliance with all policies and legislation
  • Ensure full vehicle compliance, including maintenance, inspections, and legal requirements (O-licence, driver compliance, and record keeping)
  • Oversee maintenance of plant, equipment, and facilities to ensure safe and uninterrupted operations
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, and other relevant standards, alongside ESG and sustainability initiatives
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service, efficiency, and cost control
  • Build strong internal relationships to support cross-functional collaboration and operational success
