SEN Teaching Assistant

About this role

Looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference to a young person's day?

Or perhaps you already work with children or young people and are considering a career as an SEN Teaching Assistant?

We're working with a number of specialist schools across Winchester that are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to support students on both a flexible and long-term basis from September.

Whether you're experienced in education or coming from another people-focused background, we'd love to hear from you.

You don't need previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant to apply.

Schools are often looking for people who can build strong relationships, stay calm under pressure, and provide consistent support to young people who need it most.

If you have experience working with children, teenagers, or vulnerable individuals, many of your existing skills will transfer naturally into an SEN Teaching Assistant role.

We'll provide training, support, and opportunities to gain classroom experience before you start.

  • Supporting students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, autism, and ADHD
  • Helping pupils engage with learning and classroom activities
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Building trusted relationships with students
  • Working alongside teachers and SEN professionals
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support throughout the school day

This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people while developing valuable skills and experience.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.

The experience gained can also provide a strong foundation for careers in

  • Pastoral Support
  • Social Care

We're particularly interested in hearing from
