This is an exciting opportunity for those with strong data management skills looking to build on their clinical experience in a psychological therapies service. We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist with advanced Excel skills and significant experience of analysing and reporting data to a high level to join our dynamic and creative NHS Talking Therapies service. You will work closely with the Clinical Leads of Lambeth NHS Talking Therapies and be part of a multidisciplinary team of Psychologists, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) and Clinical Support Workers.

The post holder will be responsible for collecting data from patient electronic records (IAPTus) and populating and managing the service database of discharged clients. They will also be responsible for producing a number of monthly and quarterly reports on service outcomes, access rates and clinician activities in relation to targets. A significant part of the role involves managing extensive Excel spreadsheet and using Excel formulas to investigate/report data; therefore advanced Excel skills and time management are essential.
The clinical responsibilities will involve conducting telephone triage assessments, using semi-structured interviews, risk assessment and outcome measures to formulate an appropriate treatment plan and communicating that to the client and other healthcare professionals. Later on in the role, the post holder will facilitate online interventions to clients with anxiety and depression through the Silvercloud program. Over time and, if appropriate, they will progress to a clinical placement in SLaM providing one to one therapy to clients or be involved in delivering workshops . Our Assistant Psychologists are members of the Access team and have the opportunity to attend monthly clinical skills training.
Lambeth Talking Therapies is a well-established and successful service with over 100 members of staff. We are a friendly, creative and sociable team consisting of Assistant Psychologists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, High Intensity CBT Therapists and admin staff.

Lambeth NHS Talking Therapies (Lambeth IAPT) offers low and high intensity CBT interventions to people presenting with depression and various anxiety disorders. Our teams are based across the borough of Lambeth and all our bases have great transport links and are close to coffee shops and food markets for enjoying your lunch break. Lambeth NHS Talking Therapies (Lambeth IAPT) is part of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The primary purpose is to lead on the data collection and data management of Lambeth NHS Talking therapies, through managing extensive Excel spreadsheet and using Excel formulas to investigate/report data, as well as to use the data to provide regular reports to the supervisors and clinical leads of the service.
Key responsibilities
- Provide real-time information about therapist activity and client outcomes to clinicians, supervisors and service managers in order to improve service performance.
- Improve the accuracy and completeness of Lambeth Talking Therapies data recording in key areas (diagnosis, clustering, care pathway, patient satisfaction).
- Assist in the development and implementation of data collection processes around outcomes in specific areas of interest
- Develop and conduct data audits into specific areas of interest and concern
- The role also allows the postholder to develop their clinical skills, beginning with step 2 assessments (triage) and over time offer supported on-line therapy (Silvercloud) to clients, and, if appropriate, progress to have a clinical placement in SLaM offering one to one therapy to clients
The post holder will work within the overall framework of the team and adhere to the team policies and procedures. They will be supported by with regular supervision and line management with a qualified clinician. This opening is ideal for Psychology graduates with strong Excel and data management skills, planning a career in clinical psychology / psychological therapies and keen to develop experience in working with adults presenting with common mental health problems.
This post is a busy one, with multiple deadlines each month involving inputting data on Excel, cross checking outcomes and ensuring the data is accurate, and producing regular reports.
Lambeth Talking Therapies consists of approximately 100 clinical and administration staff providing a service across Lambeth. This is a borough of high social and psychological needs with considerable cultural diversity. The service sees clients with a wide range of common mental illnesses and varying levels of severity. Many clients present with multiple
problems including social, housing and employment issues.
Your usual pattern of working will be Monday to Friday 9 - 5pm. We are currently looking for full time only.
We are currently working remotely up to 3 days / week, and working from the office minimum 2 days / week. You will be expected to attend in person for induction and training purposes, as well as monthly team meetings in addition to the regular 2 days / week.
