About this role
They will actively promote breast feeding and participate in the training of both the parents and professionals on the neonatal unit. This will entail being a specialist in breast feeding, acting as a resource for the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will oversee and manage the stock control of donor breastmilk ensuring it is handled in line with NICE guidelines and local policy. The post holder will support, supervise, and facilitate the training of multidisciplinary team staff including, student nurses, student midwives, and health care support workers. The post holder will actively support women with establishing and maintaining milk supply and breastfeeding. To act as a role model in breast feeding in the clinical area. The post holder will help to provide a quality family centred and supportive environment where parents/carers can learn to care for their babies. To maintain own personal development with support. To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide high quality breastfeeding support to mothers. The post holder will participate in clerical duties and general administrative duties related to infant feeding. Accountable to breastfeeding team and Senior sister. Particular emphasis is put at Kings on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
