About this role

Barts Health NHS Trust is looking to appoint an exceptional and motivated Lead Haematology Pharmacist to provide strategic and clinical leadership across our specialist haematology pharmacy services. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a dynamic and progressive multidisciplinary team for anticoagulation and haemoglobinopathy services.

The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of advanced haematology pharmacy services across inpatient and outpatient settings, working closely with consultant haematologists, nursing teams, pharmacy colleagues, and wider clinical staff. As the lead pharmacist for haematology, you will be responsible for driving service development, supporting medicines optimisation initiatives, and ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines throughout the patient pathway. You will contribute to governance, policy development, audit, education, and quality improvement activities while also providing leadership, mentorship, and line management support to members of the pharmacy team.

The vacancy will be on NHS jobs for 2 weeks

  • To lead the clinical pharmacy service to the haematology specialities in providing responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing within the networks to:
  • Optimise patient outcomes
  • Minimise adverse reactions
  • Improve medicines safety
  • The post also helps to deliver the broader Medicines Optimisation and Governance Strategy across the Trust. These outcomes will be achieved primarily through leadership of clinical staff, and the publication and implementation of guidelines and procedures to encourage best practice
