Brook Street are currently recruiting for Operational Support Officers to join a busy court environment in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable public sector experience within the Ministry of Justice.
This role is primarily a court usher position, combined with some general administrative duties. You will play a key part in supporting the smooth running of the court on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming and assisting court users, including members of the public, legal professionals, and judiciary
- Preparing courtrooms and ensuring proceedings run efficiently
- Calling cases and escorting parties in and out of courtrooms
- Supporting judges and magistrates during hearings
- Maintaining order and professionalism within the court environment
- Completing general administrative tasks, including document handling and data entry
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Confident dealing with a wide range of people, including challenging situations
- Good IT skills and attention to detail
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks
- A team player with the ability to use initiative
Previous experience in a customer-facing role (e.g. retail, hospitality, or public service) is highly desirable.
