About this role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Speech & Language Therapist keen to extend their clinical skills in the acute adult inpatient setting. You should be experienced in managing dysphagia and communication impairments across a range of disorders. You will also support SLT students on clinical placements with guidance from universities and colleagues.

This post may be offered as a developmental role from Band 5 to Band 6, with structured support, training, and progression towards full role requirements.

Although based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, you will work closely with teams across Trust sites, including providing cover at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and occasionally Andover War Memorial Hospital.

We are keen to recruit someone who will promote the Speech & Language Therapy service across the Trust with enthusiasm. The successful candidate will need to be flexible, work under pressure, and contribute to future service development.

We offer a strong commitment to staff development, with a wide range of training opportunities, and an established programme of clinical supervision, peer support, and in-house education.

· To provide a specialist inpatient speech and language therapy service to adults with acquired communication and EDS disorders

· To work as an autonomous practitioner, in partnership with patients, their families, carers and other health care professionals, to deliver integrated packages of care to adults with acquired communication and EDS difficulties

· To supervise and train speech and language therapy students, other health care professionals and staff from other agencies who works with adults with acquired communication and EDS difficulties

· To provide general support and mentorship to less experienced speech and language therapy colleagues working within the adult service

· To provide clinical supervision and/or line management (as required) to the Band 5 post-holder

· To offer training to other health care professional colleagues and agencies

· Accurate use of a number of IT skills to optimise patient care

· To work bank holidays on a rota basis, agreed with the team.

You will work directly with patients across the hospital sites in general wards and critical care with a range of acute reasons for admission to a hospital site. You will be working with the MDT to optimise their care
