About this role
Guy’s & St Thomas’ Theatres, Anaesthesia and Peri-operative medicine (TAP) is offering a full time position to join the leadership team as Matron. The Matron for TAP is a senior nursing leader responsible for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. The post holder will provide visible, compassionate leadership, acting as a professional role model and ensuring consistently high standards of clinical practice and patient experience within afast-paced, complex environment.
Working within the TAP leadership team, the Matron will support and develop multidisciplinary staff, promoting a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and patient-centred care. They will have operational oversight of the department, including patient flow, workforce deployment, and performance against key targets. They will work with others to transform services to meet the complex demands of the department and wider Trust.
The role includes leading on quality, safety, and governance, ensuring compliance with national standards and regulatory requirements, including those of the Care Quality Commission. The post holder will contribute to risk and incident management, will maintain infection control standards and participate in clinical audit.
The Matron will lead workforce development, supporting education, wellbeing, and retention to maintain a skilled and resilient team.
