We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Lead to lead and manage maintenance operations across client sites, ensuring all maintenance activity is delivered safely, effectively, and in full compliance with relevant regulations.
The purpose of the role is to support the creation of safe, compliant, and efficient workplaces while positively contributing to client satisfaction and overall business performance.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced engineer who is comfortable remaining tools‑based while stepping into a leadership role, managing on‑site engineering activity and supporting continuous improvement across engineering processes.
This role offers the opportunity to shape working practices, improve procedures, and support a small on‑site team while working closely with contractors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPMs), reactive maintenance, and electrical works.
Lead engineering compliance across the wider contract and ensure regulatory standards are met.
Audit engineering delivery and maintain compliance documentation and standards.
Manage contractors, including RAMS checks, subcontractor coordination, and specialist contractors.
Supervise and support one Maintenance Operative/Handyperson.
Plan, assign, and oversee maintenance tasks and workloads.
Conduct one‑to‑ones, return‑to‑work meetings, and absence management.
Contribute to improving engineering procedures, scheduling, and working practices.
Additional Duties
Carry out general maintenance and fabric tasks when required, including minor plumbing, door hardware, carpet tiles, and basic building maintenance.
Provide day‑to‑day supervision and respond to feedback from site and clients.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Fully qualified electrician.
Strong hands‑on engineering capability.
Facilities Management or building services background preferred.
Comfortable balancing tools‑based work with leadership responsibilities.
Senior engineer ready for a first supervisory or lead role.
Seeking progression without moving fully into management.
Confident, client‑facing, and able to manage one direct report.
Previous people‑management experience is preferred but not essential.
