Our client, a renowned educational institution in Gillingham, Kent, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join their dynamic team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of £32,000-£46,500+, reflecting the importance of this role and the exceptional skills and qualifications required.

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering tailored educational programmes that cater to the unique needs of students with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Your role will be pivotal in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that accommodate the diverse learning styles and needs of SEN students
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals, to ensure a holistic approach to student support
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and adjusting teaching strategies as needed
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation, ensuring compliance with all relevant educational policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) that outline specific learning objectives and interventions
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to student support
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest SEN teaching methodologies and best practices
  • Contribute to the wider school community by actively engaging in extracurricular activities, staff meetings, and school events

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a Bachelor of Education (BEd) with a specialism in SEN
  • Extensive experience (minimum of 3 years) working as an SEN Teacher in a primary or secondary school setting
  • A deep understanding of the diverse range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities
  • Proven ability to design and implement effective, evidence-based teaching strategies and behaviour management techniques for SEN students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs
  • A valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
