About this role
Our client, a highly regarded primary school in Dagenham, Greater London, is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their dynamic team. This is a full-time position, offering a competitive daily rate of £110, depending on experience (DOE).
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the education and development of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide individualised support, ensuring that each student can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEND, assisting them with their learning, emotional, and social development.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement personalised education plans, adapting teaching methods and resources to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Assist in the delivery of specialised interventions and therapies, such as speech and language, occupational therapy, or behaviour management programmes.
- Monitor and record the progress of SEND students, regularly updating teachers and other professionals on their achievements and areas for improvement.
- Facilitate the inclusion of SEND students in all aspects of school life, promoting their independence and social integration.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with parents, teachers, and other professionals to discuss the students' progress and plan for their future development.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students in your care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting SEND students.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working as a SEND Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role.
- A demonstrable understanding of the needs and challenges faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and families.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of each student.
- A keen interest in and commitment to the education and well-being of children with SEND.
- Proficiency in using technology, such as assistive software and communication aids, to support SEND students.
- A relevant qualification in education, special educational needs, or a related field would be highly desirable.
