QD Writer (VQ) Education & Early Years - Fully Remote

About this role

We are currently recruiting for a number of writers to support the development and delivery of our brand-new vocational qualifications in Education and Early Years at Levels 2 and 3.

There are a number of positions available for both externally assessed and internally assessed units, aligned to the following qualifications:

  • Education and Early Years - Level 3 V-level
  • Education and Early Years - Level 2 Foundation Certificate
  • Education and Early Years - Level 2 Occupational Certificate

Purpose of the role

The writer for the aforementioned qualifications is responsible for writing/updating specification and sample assessment materials - which could be external or internal - during the qualification development phase.

It is envisaged that the writer would go on to undertake the role of Content Author for the corresponding live assessments in future - this involves producing error-free, factually accurate assessments that align with the qualification specification and sample assessments.

Key duties & responsibilities

  • You will be expected to write / technically edit specification units and sample assessment materials within your chosen sector/subject area.
  • Respond positively to feedback received.
  • Provide content in the required format using the specified format / templates / layout for submission .
  • Make amendments following feedback.
  • Engage in assessment evaluation committee meetings.
  • Meet deadlines & report back to Pearson within agreed timeframes.

General responsibilities

  • Adhere to guidance provided by Pearson.
  • Take part in training activities, associated with the role, as required
  • Communicate with Pearson in a timely manner when carrying out all designated responsibilities.
  • Adhere to agreed deadlines.
  • Remain respectful and advocate for others to ensure and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in a professional manner when carrying out services on behalf of Pearson.

Background/Experience/Skills (Essential)

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • A minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area/sector within the last 8 years and/or extensive knowledge and experience in assessment and quality assurance for a regulated qualification within the last 5 years.
  • Current sector experience/applied subject knowledge (with a minimum of 2 years' experience).
  • A UK recognised teaching qualification
  • History of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) in subject specialism.
  • Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT and interpersonal skills.

Background/Experience/Skills (Desirable)

  • Experience with the BTEC or Vocational qualifications for the relevant subject area.
  • Experience writing any of the following for a regulated qualification:
  • assessments
  • specifications
  • published materials (e.g. textbooks).
  • A clear understanding of the educational landscape and regulatory requirements for qualifications.
  • Be innovative with fresh ideas that motivate our learners and set them on the path to success.

There is a content authoring task to be completed as part of the application for this role. Additionally, this is an occasional working role, tied to discrete contracts of work and a specific qualification development project initially.
