Job Description
As an Mess Administrator at Hestia South Worthy Down DCLPA Winchester, Winchester, England, SO21 2RG
You'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the Mess, ensuring administrative processes run smoothly while delivering excellent service to Armed Forces personnel and guests. Working closely with the Mess Manager, Events and Bar Manager, and Joint Mess Supervisors, you'll help coordinate functions, manage bookings, handle financial administration, and provide essential support across the site.
Your organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively will help create a welcoming and efficient environment for both customers and colleagues.
What You'll Do
- Provide effective administrative and clerical support to the Mess Manager and Unit Managers.
- Work closely with the Events and Bar Manager to support functions, events, and pre-drinks arrangements.
- Coordinate with Joint Mess Supervisors to ensure all function preparations are completed to a high standard.
- Manage function bookings and day-to-day catering requests.
- Handle cash transactions, cheque cashing, and daily balancing of monies in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare and issue casual Mess bills following Sodexo and client requirements.
- Welcome guests to the Mess, responding to enquiries and providing excellent customer service.
- Answer telephone calls, take messages, and distribute information to relevant parties.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
- Provide additional administrative and office support as required.
- Process sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality in line with data protection requirements.
- Support compliance activities, team communications, meetings, and any other reasonable duties requested by management.
What You Bring
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- A positive, team-focused attitude and a commitment to delivering great customer service.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and other administrative systems.
- The ability to work independently while maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues and customers.
- A professional approach when handling confidential information.
Desirable- Previous experience in an administrative role.
- Experience working within a military or Armed Forces environment.
- Knowledge of hospitality, catering, or events administration.
