About The Role
We are currently seeking a Deep Clean / Damp and Mould Operative to work across occupied homes, void properties, and communal areas. The role focuses on responding to damp, mould, and insulation issues through deep cleaning, minor repairs, and general maintenance activities. You will be part of a wider in house team trades team, supporting in responsive maintenance when required. A key part of the role is ensuring works are completed on time while using stock and materials in a cost-effective and value-for-money manner.
Working closely with the planning team, you will ensure prompt attendance to properties where damp and mould issues have been reported. Your role will involve identifying, treating, and managing mould and damp-related problems to improve living conditions for residents.
In addition, you will
- Access loft spaces to inspect insulation and carry out renewal or relaying where required
- Investigate and diagnose causes of damp, including potential plumbing leaks
- Undertake basic cleaning, treatments, and painting and decorating tasks
This is a hands-on, customer-focused role that requires strong problem-solving skills, good organisation, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of health and safety
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a good working knowledge of health and safety practices when carrying out works within residential properties. Experience in basic DIY tasks is advantageous, with potential for further in-house training where identified.
You will be confident in communicating professionally with a wide range of residents, demonstrating a positive and solution-focused approach to everyday challenges. Ideally, you will have experience across multiple trades, including basic plumbing, carpentry and decoration skills with a strong grasp of cleaning and applicable treatments.
This role requires a self-motivated individual who can manage their time effectively and work independently. You must be able to read, understand, and follow risk assessments and method statements to ensure works are carried out safely.
Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be physically capable, including
- Working with mould treatment chemicals safely
- Accessing and working within loft spaces
- Carrying out cleaning tasks over large areas, including above shoulder height
- Basic DIY/ handyman/ skill labourer attributes
You must hold a valid UK driving licence as a work van will be provided for this role.
The successful applicant will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate which is considered satisfactory to Housing Solutions.
