About this role

Are you passionate about providing a high quality Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service to adult inpatients with neurological impairments? Are you looking for the chance to develop your career in a prestigious London Trust with access to highly skilled clinicians and multiple learning opportunities?

We are looking for a specialist SLT to join our service in a split post across the Charing Cross Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit (CNRU) - a 15 bedded level-2 neuro-rehab unit - and our Stroke Wards, primarily our HASU. The services have dedicated multidisciplinary teams in which SLT has a high profile. CNRU receives patients from across North-West London and from our local stroke units, major trauma centre, and neurology and neurosurgical wards.

As a valued member of the speech & language therapy and multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to holistic inter-disciplinary working, further developing your clinical skills in the management of dysphagia and acquired communication disorders. You will be actively involved in service development and training of others. The post-holder will provide support to Therapy Support Workers as well as supervise students on placement. Staff are encouraged and supported to participate in CPD activities.

The postholder will participate in a pilot of a Saturday service within Stroke, providing approximately 3 Saturdays in a 6 month period, with a day off in lieu during the week.

  • The post holder will be part of the multidisciplinary teams working on the Charing Cross Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit (CNRU) - a 15 bedded level-2 neuro-rehabilitation service provided to patients from North-West London boroughs - and rapid access to acute rehabilitation service to Stroke or Neurosciences wards.
  • The post holder will provide a specialist SLT service to adult inpatients with disorders of communication and/or swallowing arising from acquired neurological conditions, underpinned by current evidence based practice.
  • The post holder will receive regular support and supervision from a Band 7 SLT. They will continue to gain wider clinical experience and expertise through clinical support and be able to make independent clinical decisions concerning caseload management.
  • The post holder will also develop skills across the other pillars of practice, including facilitating learning, leadership, and service development, both within SLT and across the wider MDT.

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.
