The School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, located in the UK motorsport valley, has a world-class reputation for its undergraduate and postgraduate Motorsport degrees, attracting the next generation of Formula One and Formula E engineers, recruited through our strong reputation and partnerships within the motorsport industry. As our student cohort has seen consistent growth, we are looking to appoint a Technical Instructor in our Motorsport laboratories.
The role
As our Technical Instructor, you will be working within the Mechanical Engineering Fabrication Workshops using modern recently installed equipment. You will be supporting our high-calibre students, to design and build the next generation of electric racing cars, with four in-wheel motors and full carbon fibre chassis. As a part of our team, you will get paid to do what you love, working alongside students truly passionate about motorsport. This work takes place in industry-standard laboratories, optimised to produce race cars winning at competitions, year on year, in the UK and abroad. This is a very unique, exciting opportunity as the degree holders will be offered further development through our recently approved Postgraduate Degree Apprenticeship Scheme, non-degree holders will be able to apply for staff development funding towards a relevant degree. Candidates who are assigned to support our highly successful Formula Student team will also be offered the opportunity for international travel.
The School is presently expanding the operations into two new buildings on our Headington campus, a new teaching building and a purpose built workshop. More information about the buildings can be found here.
You should have
At least a HNC or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline. Excellent team working and communication skills. See person specification and job description for full details.
