We're working with a well established engineering and facilities services provider that supports complex, high performance environments. This role offers the chance to take ownership of engineering delivery on a significant project, working alongside experienced teams in a busy and technically demanding setting, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for leading and coordinating engineering activities across electrical, mechanical, and control systems. You'll provide technical guidance, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and support the successful delivery of key project milestones.

This is a hands on leadership role suited to someone who is comfortable working across multiple disciplines and managing complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Oversee engineering activities across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Ensure all technical work meets industry standards, regulations, and best practice

Design Management

  • Review and approve drawings, specifications, and design packages
  • Work closely with design teams to maintain accurate and up to date documentation

Risk and Compliance

  • Identify potential technical risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Ensure all safety procedures, including energy isolation processes, are followed correctly

Project Integration

  • Work closely with project and construction teams to align engineering output with programme timelines
  • Support commissioning, testing, and system integration activities

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through design optimisation
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and assess their applicability

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the main technical point of contact for stakeholders
  • Lead coordination meetings and maintain clear communication across project teams

Documentation and Governance

  • Maintain accurate technical records and ensure documentation is compliant with required standards
  • Support audits and internal governance processes

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Strong background in engineering delivery within data centres or other critical infrastructure environments
  • In depth knowledge of electrical distribution (HV/LV), mechanical systems (including cooling), and controls
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex technical interfaces
  • Strong problem solving ability and confident decision making skills
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels

Desirable

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering
  • Chartered status or working towards it
  • Experience with BIM processes or planning tools such as Primavera
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools
