Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with a passion for supporting children and young people with Autism?

We are delighted to be working in partnership with a highly regarded Specialist School in Tower Hamlets, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity, with the potential to become permanent, offering excellent career development within a specialist SEND setting.

This rewarding role will involve supporting pupils across both the primary and secondary provisions, helping young people with Autism to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a structured and nurturing environment.

Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and SEND professionals, you will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, communication skills, independence, and positive learning experiences.

As a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include

  • Supporting pupils with Autism in classroom, one-to-one, and small-group settings
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities
  • Promoting pupil independence, communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Supporting sensory needs and implementing personalised behaviour strategies
  • Helping pupils access learning through tailored support approaches
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families
  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to individual support plans
  • Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment across the school day
  • Promoting pupil wellbeing and safeguarding at all times

We are looking for someone who

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with Autism and additional SEND needs
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference
  • Demonstrates patience, resilience, empathy, and adaptability
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Feels confident supporting pupils with a range of learning, communication, and behavioural needs
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures
  • Is committed to creating engaging, supportive, and positive learning experiences

Candidates with transferable experience from care, youth work, psychology, mentoring, or related SEND environments are also encouraged to apply.
