TLSA is excited to be working in partnership with a highly respected Specialist School in Tower Hamlets that is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across both their primary and secondary units from September. This Full Time opportunity is long term with the potential to become permanent and offers exceptional career progression within a leading Specialist School environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced LSA who thrives in SEND settings and is committed to making a genuine difference in the lives of pupils with Autism. The school is also open to candidates with transferable SEND experience and strong knowledge of Autism support strategies.

The ideal

Learning Support Assistant will

Have extensive experience supporting children or young people with Autism

Be passionate about SEND education and inclusion

Demonstrate patience, resilience, empathy, and adaptability

Have strong communication and teamwork skills

Be confident supporting pupils with varying learning and behavioural needs

Have the skills, abilities, experience, attitude, and behaviours required for the post

Understand safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures

Be committed to creating safe, engaging, and supportive learning environments

Daily duties

Support pupils with Autism in both classroom and one-to-one settings

Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons

Encourage pupil independence, communication, and social interaction

Implement behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies

Support pupils with sensory and additional learning needs

Monitor progress and contribute to individual support plans

Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive Specialist School environment

Support pupils across primary and secondary units throughout the school day

Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing at all times

This role involves regulated activity with children and applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken in line with recruitment requirements.

TLSA will have regard to Section 214 of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025), including

the skills, abilities, experience, attitude, and behaviours required for the post; and

the safeguarding requirements, including the extent to which the role involves contact with children and engagement in regulated activity relevant to children.
