Kitchen Porter/Back of House Assistant

Join our catering team and play an important role in keeping our kitchen running efficiently, safely and to a high standard.
As a Kitchen Porter/Back of House Assistant, you’ll support the wider kitchen team with cleaning, food handling, deliveries, waste management and general kitchen duties. You’ll help maintain a clean, organised and safe environment while supporting the delivery of a professional catering service for the school.
What you'll do
- Carry out kitchen cleaning duties, including manual pot washing and operating a commercial dishwasher
- Keep kitchen areas, equipment, work surfaces and food preparation areas clean, tidy and organised
- Receive, check and store deliveries in line with company procedures
- Dispose of catering and refectory waste safely and responsibly
- Support food preparation, taking particular care with allergens, special dietary requirements and shelf life
- Complete cleaning schedules and other required records, including food and delivery temperature checks and stock takes
- Support customer service by serving customers in a quick and polite manner
- Follow all food safety, health and safety and company procedures
- Support the set-up, service, clearing and cleaning of school functions and events when required
- Work positively with colleagues and raise any issues or concerns with the Head Chef or Catering Manager
- Complete all required training and carry out other reasonable duties as requested by management

- Previous kitchen or catering experience would be beneficial, but full training will be provided
