Mainduties andresponsibilities To deliver an advanced clinical and technical service to patients undergoing reconstructive procedures or rehabilitation using implants, guides,splintsand prostheses Responsible for providing face to face direct patient care e.g. facial prosthetic clinics The postholder will berequiredto attend clinical sessions across three sites, St Richards Hospital,WorthingHospital, andRoyal Sussex County Hospitaland undertaketheatre commitmentsin accordance withservice requirements. Communication Requires advanced communication skills across a range of professional scenarios to be able to explain complex treatment or device/manufacture informationto patients and multidisciplinary teams. As Principal Maxillofacial Prosthetist, will be expected to assess patients, some of whom will have experienced trauma or extensive cancer treatment, could have learning difficulties or other physical disabilities.They will need todemonstratecompassion, empathy and be able to adjusttheircommunication style to reflect this. Required to liaise with the clinical tearegardingpatient treatment and the provision of medical devices. Provide Clinical and technicalexpertiseon medical device design, manufacture, materialselectionandtheiruses. Occasionally receive sensitive patient information. Disseminate innovation locally and nationally to specialist healthcare groups to promote the work of the Trust. Servicedelivery andimprovement Make complex decisions on patient care and service delivery which couldimpacton other disciplines. Active role in department audit; specifically clinical and technical service delivery. Participate in service research and innovation to improve patient care. Report service failures on the Trusts Datix system. Peoplemanagement anddevelopment Responsible for carrying out duties in line with the Trusts e-rostering processes, including managing rosters, supporting staff allocation, and contributing to effective budget reconciliation and workforce planning The postholder will berequiredto engage in the education and training of junior team members, including but not limited to apprentice dental technicians and STP students. Patientcaredelivery Responsible for the safe and effective treatment of patients across the team. Required to work within own professional competency and professional boundaries; ensuring the safety of patients. Participate in a regional specialist service to patients across multiple sites. Consent patients for treatment andmaintainappropriate records. Providea complex range of clinical maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation, to include; facial, body and ocular prosthetics. Manufacture a complex range of specialist custom devices to include; obturators, trauma devices, cleft lip and palate and surgical cover plates,splintsand guides. Keyworkingrelationships Values and respects all members of the multidisciplinary laboratory, clinical and administration team. The complex nature of the multi-site, multidisciplinary workload requires the post holder to work closely with the laboratory team, collaborating, listening to ideas, sharing knowledge, discussing cases, to offer the best patient care. Accountable for direct clinical and laboratory services to the clinical leadership team/senior management team across multiple sites; and the wider Consultant team across the broad medical and dental specialities the service supports. This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route.
