An exciting opportunity has become available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or Senior RVN to join a highly respected, long-established independent veterinary hospital in High Wycombe.

This purpose-built hospital practice is seeking a passionate and dedicated veterinary nurse to become part of its exceptional and supportive team. The practice delivers a high standard of first-opinion veterinary care, supported by multiple certificate holders across both the veterinary and nursing teams.

The successful candidate will join a practice where nurses are genuinely valued, encouraged to develop professionally, and play a central role in patient care and hospital operations.

About the Practice

This proudly independent, traditionally owned veterinary practice has served High Wycombe and the surrounding area for many years and has built an excellent reputation for outstanding patient care and team culture.

Based primarily at the practice’s modern, purpose-built hospital, the team provides advanced medical and surgical services, including:

  • Advanced orthopaedics
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Cardiology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Dentistry
  • Exotic animal care

With dedicated vets holding a special interest in exotics, the caseload offers excellent variety and opportunities to develop specialist nursing interests.

Importantly, the practice provides 24/7 in-house inpatient care, giving nurses the chance to be heavily involved in patient management, day cases, inpatient care, and advanced nursing responsibilities.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN or Senior RVN looking to work in a collaborative, progressive hospital environment.

The successful candidate will work across a variety of nursing duties including

  • Surgical nursing
  • Inpatient and outpatient hospital care
  • Nurse consultations and appointments
  • Patient monitoring and inpatient management
  • Supporting advanced procedures and specialist cases

The role offers excellent exposure to varied and complex cases, allowing nurses to become more involved in areas of personal clinical interest.

The practice places significant emphasis on career progression and CPD, actively supporting nurses wishing to pursue further qualifications or certificates. Several team members have successfully achieved additional certifications while working within the practice.

The Rota

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • 4-day working week for RVNs (with a fixed day off each week)
  • 40-hour week
  • 1:4 weekend rota
  • 1:10 out-of-hours rota, including inpatient care and overnight sleep-ins
  • Bank holiday rota with time off in lieu
  • Additional Saturday morning shifts on a rota basis

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will be

  • A Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), or an experienced nurse suitable for a Senior RVN position

  • Keen to develop clinically and pursue ongoing professional development
  • Comfortable working within a hospital and inpatient setting
