We are currently recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative to join a busy university estates and facilities team. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term assignment within a prestigious educational environment, supporting the day-to-day operation of campus buildings and facilities.

The RoleWorking as part of the maintenance and estates team, you will undertake a variety of general upkeep and facilities tasks across the university campus. No two days will be the same, and you will play a key role in ensuring the university remains safe, functional, and welcoming for staff, students, and visitors.

Key Duties

• Lifting, carrying, and moving furniture and equipment
• Setting up and clearing down rooms for meetings, events, and teaching activities
• Emptying bins and assisting with general facilities support duties
• Carrying out basic maintenance tasks such as changing lightbulbs
• Unblocking sinks and resolving minor maintenance issues
• Assisting tradespeople and maintenance staff as required
• Responding to ad hoc requests from the estates and facilities team
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times

About You

• Previous experience in a maintenance, caretaking, facilities, handyman, or general labouring role is desirable
• Practical and hands-on approach to work
• Physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual handling duties
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude
• Willingness to support a wide range of tasks across the campus
