About this role
Rikama Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special educational needs (SEN) school in Greenwich.
In this role, you will support small groups and 1-to-1 sessions, delivering a differentiated curriculum tailored to the individual needs of students, including those with ASD, ADHD, Behavioural needs, and related conditions.
You will work alongside a supportive team to foster academic success while also helping students develop critical personal, social, and health education (PSHE) skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with a range of learning and social needs in both small group settings and on a 1-to-1 basis.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH difficulties or challenging behaviour.
- Use calming and positive behaviour techniques.
- Build trust and rapport with students.
- Be resilient.
- Strong communication skills.
- Have a background in education settings, youth clubs, residential care, social work.
- Assist students in developing life skills and PSHE competencies, which are essential for their overall wellbeing.
- Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to regular reviews of learning plans.
Key Requirements
- Experience working with children, particularly in a special needs or educational setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with special educational needs, including ASD.
- Strong communication skills, both with students and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, showing flexibility and adaptability.
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with students with diverse needs.
