This is a high-profile opportunity to lead Adult Social Care across a diverse and complex footprint shaping services, strategy and partnerships that directly improve the lives of residents.

As Director of Adult Social Care, you will lead a complex and high-impact portfolio spanning statutory adult social care, safeguarding, transformation, prevention and health integration. You will provide ambitious, compassionate leadership with a clear focus on independence, wellbeing, resilience and better outcomes for communities.

As part of the Corporate Management Team, you will play a key role in shaping the council’s wider strategic direction. Working alongside the Directors of Public Health and Children’s Services within the People service, you will help drive a genuinely joined-up approach across the whole system.

You will build strong relationships across the NHS, voluntary and community sector, elected members and regional partners, influencing beyond organisational boundaries and delivering meaningful change at scale.

Lead the strategic direction and delivery of Adult Social Care across B&NES.

Drive transformation, prevention and earlier intervention.

Develop innovative, community-based models of care and support.

Influence corporate, regional and wider system strategy.

About you

You will be an experienced and accomplished senior leader with the credibility, judgement and presence to operate at corporate and system level.

You will bring

Significant senior leadership experience within adult social care or a comparable complex public service environment.

Strong understanding of statutory adult social care, safeguarding and transformation.

Proven ability to work effectively with elected members and senior stakeholders.

Exceptional partnership and influencing skills across organisational boundaries.

Strategic vision combined with the ability to deliver complex change.

A strong commitment to prevention, independence, inclusion and improved resident outcomes.

The confidence to challenge, innovate and lead through complexity.
