Milton Keynes University Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics Department .The post offers the opportunity to work within a busy, supportive ward environment providing high quality care to patients with a wide range of trauma and orthopaedic conditions. You will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Applicants will require strong communication skills, sound clinical judgement and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care. Experience within trauma, orthopaedics, surgical or acute settings is desirable, though we also welcome applications from newly qualified nurses who demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to develop specialist skills.
The department offers excellent development opportunities, including access to specialist orthopaedic training, preceptorship programmes, mentorship support and clear pathways for career progression into senior clinical or leadership roles. The post holder will work independently, in conjunction with the wider nursing team to deliver and maintain a high standard of nursing care, within the framework of National and Trust policies, referring to senior colleagues as needed.
To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of personalised care, ensuring patients feel safe, supported and informed to make decisions regarding their care, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to maintain safe and effective care at all times.

The surgery division at MKUH, which covers specialties including theatres and the Intensive Care Unit, offers a variety of roles and opportunities, both clinical and non-clinical. The division are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and forward-thinking professionals to join the team.
MKUH is one of the leading hospitals in Europe for implementing robotics to assist in surgery, becoming the first in the continent to use the CMR Versius robot for gynaecological surgery. Since its introduction in 2019, the theatres team have completed over 500 surgical cases, the first hospital in the UK to reach this milestone, achieving this in March 2023.

Clinical Responsibilities
To be responsible for the unsupervised assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence-based care.
To formulate evidence-based programmes of care based on an assessment and evaluation of patient needs.
Professional Responsibilities
To comply with Trust policies and practice within the NMC Standards and guidelines.
To maintain professional registration and fulfil revalidation requirements.
Education and Training
To assist, when necessary, with induction and orientation programmes for staff ensuring that the needs of the ward are met.
To participate in the sharing of knowledge with colleagues
Other Duties
As part of ongoing professional development, and when required, act as Nurse in Charge in the absence of a Band 6/Sister, with appropriate guidance and support from senior nursing staff.
Staff may be temporarily redeployed to other areas of the Trust during times of peak acuity, in accordance with their skills, competence and service needs.
