As a Systems Engineer I in the Booker Technology Infrastructure team, you’ll help maintain and improve our core IT systems, including servers, storage, security, data and network connectivity. Your work will support reliability, security and performance, while ensuring our technology aligns with evolving business needs.
This role offers variety and opportunity to learn. You’ll be involved in day‑to‑day operations as well as contributing to longer‑term plans around capacity, resilience and efficiency. From system maintenance and performance optimisation to incident response and stakeholder collaboration, you’ll help keep our platforms running smoothly and ready for growth.
Reporting into one of our Systems Engineering Managers, you’ll work alongside a mix of internal colleagues and third‑party partners. A key focus of the role is administering Active Directory and using scripting to automate user and device management, helping to deliver a stable, secure and scalable environment. You’ll also support service level reporting, Disaster Recovery and Total Loss Recovery testing, and maintain a regular engagement cadence with application stakeholders to identify and embed improvements.

Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to Disaster and Total Loss Recovery reporting
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, values great service and wants to build secure, dependable infrastructure.
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory and PowerShell
- An understanding of infrastructure fundamentals; experience with VMware or other virtualisation platforms, networking basics or Zscaler Internet / Private Access is beneficial
- A strong focus on stability, security and continuous improvement
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work confidently with stakeholders and suppliers
- An organised approach to governance, project delivery and budget awareness
- A calm, practical mindset when responding to incidents or change
- The ability to balance future‑focused thinking with hands‑on technical work
- Confidence using tools and techniques to prioritise work and manage dependencies
- A genuine passion to deliver the right outcomes, with a bias for action and results
