About this role

The job holder is responsible for providing supervision, knowledge and skills to prisoners in a specialist printing workshop, so they can improve employment prospects on release with a view to reducing reoffending. Training on equipment will be provided. The role will require teaching prisoners working towards national recognised qualifications.

Summary

The job holder will provide prisoners with work experience in the print workshop that mirrors the employment experience outside the prison. The job holder will have had experience in a factory/workshop environment demonstrated on their CV.

Desirable Skills

Include

Experience in working on 2.col and four colour printing presses.

Experience working on Heidelberg and Ryobi.

Skills competency working on paper, board and be familiar with NCR paper.

Basic understanding of creasing, cutting and folding.

Social and positive interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities, Activities and Duties

The job holder will be required to carry out the following

A whole prison approach towards a safe, secure and respectful environment.

Induction to prisoners in the workshop/area.

Control of Substance Hazardous to health (COSHH), machinery and tools usage.

Delivering and understanding of consequences of employment compact for prisoners.

Supervise prisoners and maintain discipline in the workshop/area.

Maintain regular communications via radio net in accordance with Local Security Strategy (LSS).

Contribute to prisoner report including parole and sentence planning.
