A supportive education setting in Hayes is looking for an experienced Specialist SEND Education Practitioner to join its team from January.

This is a long-term opportunity for someone who wants to continue making a direct difference to young people while becoming a more knowledgeable and confident SEND professional.

Effective SEND practice isn't simply about being there when a pupil needs help.

It's about understanding what is preventing them from succeeding and finding approaches that enable them to move forward.

You'll work with pupils whose needs may include

Autism (ASC) • ADHD • SEMH • Learning Difficulties • Speech & Language Needs • Sensory Needs • Emotional Regulation Difficulties

Your work could involve

• Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support.
• Delivering structured SEND interventions.
• Supporting pupils to work towards EHCP and individual targets.
• Identifying barriers to learning and engagement.
• Adapting activities around individual learning needs.
• Supporting communication and social interaction.
• Helping young people develop emotional regulation strategies.
• Promoting confidence, resilience and independence.
• Monitoring progress and recognising when support needs to change.
• Sharing observations with teachers and SEND professionals.
• Contributing to personalised approaches for individual pupils.
• Working collaboratively with the wider education team.

Perhaps you want more experience supporting autistic pupils.

Maybe you want to understand SEMH and behaviour in greater depth.

You could be looking for more involvement with EHCPs, interventions and personalised learning.

Or you might want to develop the confidence to eventually move into a more senior position.

The experience developed in specialist SEND roles can lead in many directions.

Depending on your interests, experience and qualifications, you could eventually progress towards

HLTA • Lead SEND Practitioner • Behaviour or SEMH Specialist • Pastoral Lead • Teacher • Specialist Teacher • SENCO

You don't need to decide your entire career now.

But choosing roles that continually expand your experience can help you discover where your strengths lie.

You may already be working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, HLTA, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Practitioner or Specialist Support Assistant.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
