About this role

Our client has been providing Site Inspection Services since they were established in 1997.

Over the past 20+ years, they have provided flexible levels of input and demonstrated value to their clients by raising issues during the construction process that would otherwise have been overlooked. Such issues usually concern the use of sub-standard materials, shortcuts in acceptable building practices, or issues that would have created future maintenance problems and additional costs.

Our client is seeking a Building / Civils Clerk of Works to take on this part-time role on a freelance / self-employed basis, with an anticipated commitment of 2 - 3 days per week. They will provide induction, in-house training and insurances to the successful candidate and there may be the opportunity of further work in the surrounding area.

The role is advertised in Guildford, covering projects across Surrey and neighbouring areas of West Sussex, with site visits and home-based reporting. Applicants should be within a practical travelling distance of the projects, ideally no more than around 90 minutes each way.

Potential projects include education, public-sector fit-out and refurbishment works. They will provide further project details during discussions with suitable applicants. The start date, duration and working pattern will be agreed, subject to project confirmation and requirements.

The Role

  • Monitoring construction site resources.
  • Monitoring compliance with contract documents.
  • Monitoring progress against programme.
  • Inspecting quality of workmanship.
  • Generating weekly site visit inspection reports.
  • Attendance at monthly site meetings and reviews.

You Must

  • Have your own means of travel.
  • Have a valid CSCS card.
  • Ideally be ICWCI registered or hold membership / fellowship of an equivalent body.
  • Be computer literate with experience in Microsoft Office.

What They'll Give You

  • In-house training and on-going support crucial to the role.
  • Insurance cover via their policies.
  • Branded hardhat and Hi-Vis.
  • The opportunity to progress and become a Regional Site Inspector.
  • £280 per day (based on an 8-hour day).
