About this role
We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead and optimise a busy transport operation. The successful candidate will have strong experience in transport management and logistics, with proven expertise handling import processes and cross-border shipments. This role requires exceptional organisational skills, commercial awareness and the ability to manage a busy operational team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day transport operations, including planning, scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and drivers.
- Oversee fleet performance, maintenance planning and vehicle compliance.
- Develop and implement efficient routing and load-planning strategies to maximise utilisation and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, health & safety requirements and company policies.
- Manage budgets, cost control and performance KPIs; prepare operational reports and action plans.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of drivers, schedulers and transport coordinators.
- Coordinate with warehousing, procurement and customer service to ensure seamless supply chain flow.

Manage import processes
prepare and review import documentation, liaise with customs brokers and freight forwarders, ensure adherence to customs regulations and incoterms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Implement and optimise transport management systems (TMS) and other logistics IT tools.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in transport management and logistics, with demonstrable success in operational leadership.
- Practical experience handling imports, customs documentation and cross-border logistics.
- Strong knowledge of transport regulations, compliance and best practices.
- Excellent planning, organisational and analytical skills.
- Effective leadership and people-management abilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient with transport management systems, MS Office and data-driven performance monitoring.
Desirable
- Relevant transport or logistics qualifications/certifications.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers and international carriers.
- Background in cost control, tendering and supplier negotiation.
