ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated GCSE English and Maths

Tutor to deliver personalised 1

1 tuition to students across Buckinghamshire who require additional academic support outside of a mainstream school setting.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored sessions that help learners close gaps in their knowledge, build confidence, and prepare effectively for their GCSE exams. This role is ideal for a tutor or qualified teacher who enjoys working closely with students and providing highly individualised support.

Many of the young people you will work with may have been out of education for some time or may struggle with confidence, motivation, or specific learning needs. Your role is to re‑engage them, provide structure, and help them make meaningful academic progress.

Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor student development and ensure each learner receives high‑quality, effective tuition.

CONTRACT / POSITION DETAILS

  • Location - Various locations across Buckinghamshire
  • Position - GCSE English & Maths Tutor

Type of work - 1

1 tuition (in-person)

  • Start date - ASAP
  • Duration - Ongoing, dependent on each learner
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Hours - 10-15 hours per week
  • Rate of pay - From £25 per hour
  • Session length - Typically 1-3 hours per session

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE or relevant tutoring/teaching qualification
  • Experience delivering GCSE English and/or Maths
  • SEN experience highly desirable
  • Minimum 6 months' experience working with young people in the UK
  • Up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE,

YOU MUST

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
  • Provide two professional references covering the last two years
