About this role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Basingstoke area. This role involves working with children who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication challenges, and social or emotional needs.
You will work closely with teaching staff to provide consistent and tailored support, helping pupils access lessons, remain engaged, and develop confidence throughout the school day. Support may be delivered both 1:1 and in small groups, depending on the needs of the students.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils who require additional guidance to succeed.

Provide 1
1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN
- Support pupils throughout lessons, activities, and daily routines
- Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support
- Help adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
- Encourage confidence, independence, and participation
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff
- Maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
- Calm, patient, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to build trust and strong relationships with pupils
- Adaptable and responsive to changing needs
- Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, or support roles welcomed

Key Stages
Primary / Secondary
- SEN or child‑support experience desirable
- Safeguarding training can be provided
- Knowledge of SEN support strategies beneficial
