About this role

This is a full time Senior Research Resident post within the specialist Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) Service, based at the Western Eye Hospital with some cross-site sessions at Charing Cross. The post is dedicated to research and audit, with no on-call, theatre or outpatient sessions. Main duties Lead the collection and validation of clinical data for patients in the TED Service. Conduct retrospective and prospective audits evaluating patient outcomes. Assess endocrine and ophthalmic parameters for disease activity, severity and treatment response. Populate and maintain the REDCap database, ensuring completeness and accuracy of datasets. Develop data dictionaries, collection protocols and standard operating procedures. Work with research and information governance teams to meet data protection requirements. Review electronic patient records, correspondence, imaging, laboratory and treatment data. Generate data summaries and audit reports for investigators and service leads. Contribute to abstracts, manuscripts and grant applications. Lead and co-author peer-reviewed publications and present at national and international meetings. Attend TED MDT, research and project governance meetings. Support teaching of undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.

Requirements

GMC registration with licence to practise; medical degree; FRCOphth or equivalent; ophthalmology training at ST4/5; experience in TED and clinical research.
