About this role

About Us

Caritas Diocese of Salford is the principal social action agency of the Catholic Diocese. Our mission is to put Love Into Action. We help those across Greater Manchester and Lancashire experiencing poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination to transform their lives with dignity. We provide a practical response to those in crisis, suffering hardship or who are at risk. We rebuild lives for the long-term, enabling people to live in a safe, healthy, and secure environment. We call for a better, more just world, where the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon and positively influence the systems, decisions and resources that affect those in need.

About the Job

We are looking to recruit a Homeless Prevention Team Leader to work at Cornerstone Day Centre in Hulme to help transform the day centre into a Community Recovery Centre, to support people, particularly those with a history of rough sleeping, to sustain tenancies and successfully resettle in the community. The focus will be on supporting people to live good quality lives in the community, by providing access to support, advice, positive social networks and volunteering opportunities.

The Homeless Prevention Team Leader will lead the team, which will consist of staff, volunteers and peer mentors, to ensure that they work in a trauma-informed, strengths-based way to enable people to resolve housing, financial and other issues. The Team Leader will greet people at Cornerstone and signpost them to the relevant internal and external support. The team will also run Tenancy Training courses at our accommodation projects to help residents prepare for, secure and move into independent tenancies and then provide ongoing resettlement support in the community to build resilience against homelessness.

You will have at least two years of management experience with knowledge of homelessness, housing advice and the benefits system, along with excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills, as well as IT and administration skills. Additionally, you will be responsible for case oversight for the team to ensure that cases are recorded and followed up, with any safeguarding and/or health and safety concerns reported correctly following Caritas’ policies and procedures.

If this sounds like the next step you are looking for and you would like to work for an organisation passionate about transforming lives, we would love to hear from you!

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we reserve the right to interview/ appoint before the closing date. Early applications are therefore strongly encouraged.
