Speech and Language Therapist Band 5

As a result of investment, we are looking for a full time, Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join the integrated neuro therapy team in Croydon.

The post is based on the acute stroke unit at Croydon University Hospital. Training and support will be given by the Band 7 and Band 6 SLT's on the unit. You will work collaboratively as a member of the well established multi disciplinary team. We also provide FEES and VF services.

1. To provide a high quality speech and language therapy service to adults in hospital, who have had a stroke.

2. To manage and prioritise a defined caseload independently.

3. To assess and diagnose communication and swallowing disorders and make appropriate clinical decisions, following assessment.

4. To be able to reflect on all aspects of the adult’s communication and to identify appropriate strategies to enhance communicative effectiveness.

5. To communicate complex and sensitive condition related information from assessment to clients, carers, families and members of the multi-disciplinary team/other professionals

6. To accurately document and maintain high standard of clinical notes.
