SEN Tutor - Primary or Secondary (Barking & Dagenham)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Prospero Teaching is looking for a committed SEN

Tutor to provide personalised 1

1 support to pupils across Barking and Dagenham who are currently unable to access mainstream education for 10 to 15 hours per week.

You will plan and deliver tailored learning sessions that meet each pupil's individual needs, helping them re‑engage with education, rebuild confidence, and make steady academic progress. Learners may present with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning delays, and many may have been out of school for an extended period.

This role is ideal for a tutor or qualified teacher who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and creating positive, structured learning experiences. Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to track progress and ensure each pupil receives high‑quality, consistent support.

CONTRACT / POSITION DETAILS

  • Location - Various locations across Barking & Dagenham
  • Position - SEN Tutor (Primary or Secondary)

1 tuition (in-person)

  • Start date - ASAP
  • Duration - Ongoing, dependent on each learner
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Hours - 10-15 hours per week
  • Rate of pay - From £25 per hour
  • Session length - Typically 1-3 hours per session

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE or relevant tutoring/teaching qualification
  • Experience supporting SEN learners at primary or secondary level
  • Minimum 6 months' experience working with young people in the UK
  • Up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE,

YOU MUST

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
  • Provide two professional references covering the last two years
