What you will be doing

Providing dedicated 1

1 support to a Year 9 student with ASD throughout the school day

• Supporting a non-verbal student using communication tools such as PECS, visual timetables and sensory strategies
• Helping the student regulate emotions and feel safe within the school environment
• Building a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the student
• Supporting learning activities tailored to the student's individual needs and EHCP targets
• Encouraging independence, engagement and social interaction where appropriate
• Assisting with transitions between lessons and activities
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider SEND professionals
• Monitoring progress, recording observations and contributing to support strategies
• Creating a calm and positive learning environment through patience, empathy and structure

Who we are looking for

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will be someone who genuinely wants to work within SEND and understands the importance of patience, consistency and relationship-building.

You may already have experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, support worker, care worker, youth worker or psychology graduate, or you may simply be someone with the right attitude and commitment to supporting autistic young people.
