Ward 40 is a busy 30-bedded respiratory ward caring for patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Housekeeper to join our friendly multidisciplinary team
As the Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring our ward remains a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff. Working closely with the nursing, medical and domestic teams, you will help maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and patient experience, ensuring the ward runs efficiently on a day-to-day basis.
This is a varied and rewarding role that includes maintaining ward stock levels, ordering and replenishing supplies, serving meals and supporting patients at mealtimes where appropriate, ensuring bed spaces and communal areas are clean and well organised, and liaising with other departments to support the smooth running of the ward. You will also contribute to creating a positive environment where patients feel comfortable, respected and well cared for during their stay.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, reliable and takes pride in delivering excellent standards. The successful applicant will have good communication and organisational skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming ward environment in line with infection prevention and control standards.
- Ensure patient bed spaces, treatment areas and communal areas are clean, tidy and well organised.
- Order, receive, monitor and replenish ward stock, including clinical and non-clinical supplies.
- Serve meals and drinks to patients, supporting a positive mealtime experience.
- Ensure food and beverage areas are maintained to food hygiene standards.
- Liaise with the catering, domestic, portering and estates teams to ensure the smooth running of the ward.
- Report maintenance issues, equipment faults and environmental concerns promptly.
- Assist with the management of linen, waste disposal and storage areas.
- Support the nursing team by ensuring equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Welcome patients and visitors, providing a friendly and professional first point of contact.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive patient experience by creating a comfortable and organised environment.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Adhere to Trust policies, including infection prevention, health and safety, confidentiality and safeguarding.
