Overview The company is seeking a motivated and reliable Assistant Steel Erector to join their on site team. This role would be ideal for someone with construction or steelwork experience, but we welcome applicants who may have limited experience but are keen to develop a trade. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to working safely and professionally are essential. You will work alongside experienced steel erectors, supporting day to day installation activities and gaining practical knowledge across a range of residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with erecting structural steel frames, beams, columns, and associated components
• Support senior erectors with bolting, bracing, and secondary steel installation
• Help organise tools, equipment, and materials on site
• Learn to read and understand fabrication drawings and site plans
• Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain a tidy working environment
• Take instruction well and gradually build confidence in managing tasks independently
Requirements
• Some construction or steelwork experience beneficial, but not essential
• A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a proactive “can do” attitude are key requirements
• Comfortable working at height and outdoors in all weathers
• Able to work well within a team and follow direction
• Full UK driving licence essential
• CSCS and other site qualifications can be obtained while in the role
