About this role

Provide needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families of children diagnosed with diabetes. To assess the needs of children, young people and their families by collaborating with families to develop goals and care plans. Support parents/carers, siblings and other family members with emotional and practical adjustment to diagnosis. To take responsibility for own workload and prioritise when necessary. To undertake duties as required by the paediatric diabetes service and Line Manager to support the daily running of the service. To deal with general departmental enquiries, referring to senior Therapy staff as appropriate. To prioritise enquires and give information to patients and the public as appropriate. To support with the timely ordering of equipment and supplies as require ensuring patients receive the necessary supplies. To be able to work in a variety of environments, including outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and community settings. To undertake duties as required by the paediatric diabetes service and Line Manager to support the daily running of the service. Proactively safeguard the welfare of all children and actively adhere to safeguarding procedures and policies and attend all relevant training that is required. To support service users with understanding diabetes technology. To support the running of outpatient clinics when required. To ensure that patient related information is kept up-to-date with senior colleagues, as per trust documentation policy and notes recording process.
