An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Paediatric Respiratory Medicine team within West London Children’s Healthcare (WLCH). This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK’s most innovative and collaborative child health partnerships, bringing together services across Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
This role is ideal for an experienced paediatric nurse with excellent clinical, leadership and communication skills who is motivated by innovation, service development and improving patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will join a highly regarded multidisciplinary respiratory and sleep medicine team led by Professor Louise Fleming and will contribute to the delivery and further development of paediatric respiratory and sleep services across WLCH. The post offers a particular opportunity to develop expertise and service provision in paediatric long-term ventilation (LTV), alongside broader respiratory medicine practice.
The Paediatric Respiratory/LTV Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for the delivery and development of specialist respiratory services for children and young people across North West London. Working within the paediatric respiratory multidisciplinary team, the role will support improved outcomes, reduced unwarranted variation, and high-quality, equitable respiratory care.
The Band 7 CNS shall be expected to lead and manage his/her own patient cohort. In addition, work as part of the clinical nurse specialist team, cross covering patient cohorts where necessary and working alongside the MDT at all times.
The role involves working within a seamless specialist asthma / respiratory and allergy medical and nursing service that is aimed at continuously improving standards of patient care and facilitating multi-professional working. This will be achieved through clinical practice, management, education, research and audit.
The post holder will act as an expert practitioner in respiratory care, providing education, training, and clinical leadership to the wider workforce across both organisations. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues and partner organisations across the NWL ICS, including community services, primary care, education, and public health, the role will promote integrated working and ensure children and young people with allergy are managed in the right setting, at the right time, and in accordance with evidence-based standards.

1. Clinical / direct care practice
1.1. To receive referrals within the specialty from the health care team and respond to requests for expert advice and guidance.
