MSS Infrastructure is recruiting for an

HVAC & Mechanical Technician to join a specialist engineering and testing facility in Watford. This is a hands-on role suited to candidates from HVAC, mechanical maintenance, plumbing, building services, installation, or engineering backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, modify, and maintain HVAC test rigs and mechanical systems
  • Carry out mechanical, plumbing, fabrication, and basic electrical works
  • Read and interpret technical and schematic drawings
  • Set up, operate, and adjust equipment to support testing programmes
  • Diagnose faults and support ongoing system improvements
  • Assist with the delivery of testing and experimental programmes

Requirements

  • Experience working with HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, or building services systems
  • Previous installation, maintenance, or engineering experience
  • Ability to work independently and across multiple disciplines
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical and schematic drawings
  • Strong practical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Strong health and safety awareness
  • Reliable with a proactive approach to work

Desirable

  • Level 2 qualification in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems
  • IPAF and/or PASMA
  • CSCS Skilled Worker Card
  • Plumbing or electrical qualifications
  • Experience within building services, installation, maintenance, or contracting environments
  • Microsoft Office skills and experience recording test data or producing reports
