This post would suit someone who has an interest in working with children and supporting the physiotherapy team. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of previous experience as a physiotherapy assistant/technician working in an NHS setting. This post does not require a physiotherapy qualification but candidates must demonstrate experience in working with children.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivatedPaediatric Physiotherapy Assistantto join our friendly paediatric physiotherapy team, delivering services to children with special educational needs in mainstream and special schools, nurseries and the community.

The team is part of an integrated Paediatric Therapy Service, providing a multi-disciplinary, family-centred rehabilitation service to children with a variety of complex needs.

The successful candidate will support clinical and school staff in delivering physiotherapy to children and young people aged4–19 years with complex health needsacross a variety of community settings.

The work is varied and requires a flexible approach, with a focus on promoting good customer service and effective working relationships.

The post holder will work as part of thePhysiotherapy Team, supporting Physiotherapists to deliver care to children with physical and movement difficulties and Special Educational Needs (SEN) across Brent.

Key responsibilities will include

• Supporting children inmainstream and special schools, preschool settings, community settings and MSK clinics.
• Working with children who may havesevere or profound learningdisabilities, challenging behaviours or English as an additional language (EAL).
• Working independently with children under the guidance and direction of a Physiotherapist.
• Supporting Physiotherapists and education staff to deliver individual physiotherapy programmes.
• Adapting activities to meet each child’s individual needs and help them access their curriculum and environment.
• Working collaboratively withchildren and young people, parents, carers, families and education staff.
• Supporting group activities within schools, community settings and MSK outpatient clinics.
• Travelling between schools and community locations as required.
• Completing administrative duties to support the day-to-day running of the department.
• Contributing to team meetings and departmental projects.
• Assisting Physiotherapists with the delivery of training to schoolstaff and parents on aspects of physiotherapy.
